Does anyone know if you need a license to apply makeup in NY?
I know that you DO need it if you are applying makeup in a salon...but I was wondering if you also need it to do bridal or prom, etc.

I would check the State Cosmetology Board's website, here in TN to apply makeup to anyone other than yourself you need to be a licensed aesthetician, or a licensed cosmetologist. Some states have an exception for film and photography work. But doing wedding or prom make up would not likely fall under any exceptions. So even if working outside a salon setting prom and wedding makeup would usually require a license. But like I said check with the State Cosmetology Board as that would be the governing body that all licensing would have to be done through if it is required.
