So I'm curious to hear some opinions on retouching nails. How much do you think is too much? I notice at least a quarter of the ads I see that advertise some sort of nail or cosmetic product, the nails seem overly done to me. They look more like stickers placed on fleshy nub fingers or something. Apparently having a cuticle is bad, but I think at least hinting that one exists, is a good way to keep thinks somewhat natural looking. Just they often look so thin and animated compared to the rest of the image sometimes.

Of course, going to google to find some examples gave me little results to what I had in mind. But I did manage to find some examples. Do you think there is a general rule of thumb (haha, a pun) for retouching nails? Or, does it just not really matter if the client actually wants something that edited?

Here's an example I was able to fine. Maybe everyone likes this style, and I'm just crazy for not liking it! XD

This one isn't too bad, but the close up seems to be right on the line of what I'm talking about.

Yep. It's not an art. It's a job.
