Where to find paid castings
Hello all I am just curious where all of you find your paid castings. I know that there are some here, but currently in my area its slim pickings. I know that there are a lot of scams out there and while i can point out the obvious ones, i may not catch a well disguised scam. What websites do you all use to find paid castings? Jun 06 14 05:09 am Link Backstage.com is a pretty reliable website for castings. Jun 06 14 10:46 pm Link Backpage.com you can get paid. Jun 07 14 12:27 am Link Jun 07 14 01:53 am Link You need to protect yourself, but you can't get work if people can't find you. Set up a separate email account for modeling - I'd suggest a web-based account with Gmail, Yahoo or even old AOL for a little extra protection from viruses. Be very cautious about downloading or opening any attachments. But be sure to check it regularly - ideally at least once a day. Or arrange forwarding to your regular address. A separate phone number is also a good idea. There are some risks in modeling, but it's probably no worse than going to a bar on Saturday night or driving on a busy freeway. Jun 07 14 05:05 pm Link Thanks everyone for the advice. I will open a new account and at least have that on there. I will also check out that website. Jun 07 14 05:53 pm Link Any sites like this that cater to Europe? Jun 10 14 12:33 am Link Silver Mirage wrote: Google Voice is good. You can just throw the number away if you have to. It's how a lot of casting sites work. They take your money upfront to act as middlemen rather than taking a cut like agencies. Jun 10 14 11:51 pm Link DougBPhoto wrote: I agree with this. Jun 12 14 07:15 pm Link Hey all, A few places I've scoured are: 1. Facebook model groups - ones specific to my region 2. Twitter and instagram - checking for tags such as #chicagomodel or #chicagocastingcall or some combination of both 3. Craigslist! - I know most people have their reservations when going to this site, but it's where I've had the most success. Of course you have to be wise and avoid scammers, but if you look hard enough you can find some up and coming designers, photographers, and general project directors looking for a model to hire! Jun 21 14 01:54 pm Link I have gotten nude work off of Fetlife as well as Craigslist. I have gotten paid work(nude and non-nude) here by looking at photographer's profiles. Sometimes they will list that they have special projects that pay. Jun 21 14 03:01 pm Link backstage.com, onemodelplace.com (I don't particularly like this site, but I know it's one that models use.), actorsaccess.com, NYcastings.com, craigslist.com (sparingly and with caution. I do not take one-on-one photo shoot jobs off of craigslist. I use it to find things like commercial shoots with a team, film-extra work, and runway events.), always hashtag your images on tumblr and instagram with your name and your state and your area of industry. for example #glassolive #nycmodel #brooklynmodel #eastcoastmodel #model are hashtags I use A LOT. I get a good amount of paid, legitimate, and professional work off of instagram and tumblr. if you post your modeling work and build a fan base this is an moderately effective way of getting bookings. and never underestimate the power of reaching out to a photographer (or designer, or makeup artist, or whatever) over their website or model mayhem. regardless of what I've read on the forums, it's NOT rude to contact someone to let them know you're a model in the area, and you would like to be considered for any up-and-coming paid work they might have. A professional will know that this is part of the industry, and will keep you in mind. and you never know if you don't ask. good luck Jun 25 14 08:08 pm Link |
