Hey all,

This is a question a few of my few model friends have had for a while. It might just be a dumb question but oh well.

Lets say one resides in Chicago,

Is it wise or even advisable to submit to multiple international and domestic agencies online (New Zeland, London, Hong Kong, Toronto, Miami ect) in hopes that not only they will choose to represent you but will allow you to travel to their cities while staying in your home location?

While I know its highly unlikely, I've seen some models who may live in one city, but are represented across the globe- or at least across the states.

Does anyone have experience being represented by multiple agencies in multiple locations?
Were they major or boutique?

Multiple agencies based on markets or geography is not uncommon, however that doesn't mean clients budget for travel when producing a shoot.

I know a few models here who are also represented in FL, TN, and NC.  They are on their own dime for go sees and jobs.  That doesn't bother them obviously and their individual contracts on non exclusive and geography based.

As mentioned a mother agency system also works well for this, but they expect to get paid as well.

Yes its very common.
Also, being signed with different agencies in different divisions...
If they like your look they will fly you out..
or pay you enough to make the trip worth it..
If I have a client, 80% of the time them model is flown in..
Some fly out the same day after the shoot.

This a really good point.

Some clients will cover travel and possible accommodations if they want a specific model from out of town and some will not. Usually agencies that represent models from out of town will keep this in mind and not submit you for low paying jobs. If a job has a very high budget or you're not coming from all that far then covering your own transportation may not be an issue but if you are eating up your entire profit on a flight/hotel, then there's often little point in taking the booking at all.

Also every market is different. There are some cities in which it is easier to direct book than others. Other cities, you HAVE to spend a period of time there and meet with clients because they do not want to book models based off of their images alone. Other times, you just send in audition videos or do a casting via skype or chat with a client on the phone, etc.

Yes video auditions are very common as well............
or modeling reel..........
