The Coronado 4th of July parade is going on now.

If anyone visits San Diego, Coronado is a very nice local community to visit as well.

It's in the middle of San Diego Bay.

I think theirs is the best fire works display in San Diego. The park where people sit is beautiful and it's a nice milieu. Great place to explore by bicycle, day and night.

and the 2012 version of the fireworks will never be forgotten - like a little boy's wish fulfillment "what if they all went off at once?"

I love the number of car alarms going off in the background....

Interesting demo...

Was surprised to see only one fast rope (I assume done for safety purposes) and even more surprised to see the SPY rig extraction with a CH46 (the 46 is a very old airframe at this point).

That clip was from 1998 or '99, while that report was from 2011.

Maybe the current demo is more updated.

The Seals have not been performing their demo in recent years.

I would guess it's because of the targeted budget cutbacks against our military, but I don't know.

Last year, Obama canceled the famous and very popular Miramar Air Show the day before it was supposed to open. It was another slap-down for obvious reasons I won't elaborate.

That usually comes around at the beginning of October. It's too early to guess what's going to happen there this year.

He did, however, convert one of our great and mighty aircraft carriers into a basket ball court for the occasion of his esteemed visit to San Diego. It was the USS Carl Vinson, November 11, 2011. That idea of converting aircraft carriers into basketball courts has since been scrapped as impractical.

Happy 4th of July smile
