Hey guys,
I'm looking for critique on the new boudoir shots in my portfolio.  Its my first attempt at this.  I am looking to keep shooting and hopefully develop my own style.  Some feedback would be great.

I really like these, they have a very cinematic feel to them.

In terms of boudoir, it's a tough call. I'm not a boudoir photographer but

a) I would rather view your work than many, many other boudoir photographers whose work is very 'samey'.

b) I don't know if what you are producing is what boudoir clients are looking for. For example, the fact that the face is in near shadow and cut off might diminish the value for some.

In general though, these two images are hugely impressive. If this is your style then I think you should stick to it (outside of question (b) which may be important to you) and refine it and expand it with more poses/looks/etc.

Cheers,
Brhum

It's got a sensual look and appeal, I would like it more as part of an editorial and maybe add a few with the models face and expression in other shots. That would be my suggestion.

Thanks guys,
So this was my first shoot of hopefully many for the series.  After looking through the images I regret not having more with facial expressions.  Lips, eyes, more emotion.  Although I wanted to create a sense of voyeurism in the images.  I plan to add more facial expressions in the next shoots.
Also the images will be for a collection that I plan to print on canvas/ other media for a show.  Also I may entertain printing for a coffee table book.  Depending on the response i get and how pleased I am with the work.
I will throw some more up here after the next shoot.  Thanks for the critique.

I have never done a boudoir shoot and am not an expert but those are some truly beautiful images. I would have been proud to have taken them. Excellent work.

Very nice. I'm one who is yet to attempt boudoir but I think you've set your bar pretty high on your first attempt.  At the end of the day, it's all about what makes you happy/proud/satisfied, though.

I like your moody style, if you developed a little more on the character it would indeed make for some great editorial material.
If your aim is boudoir, you might try selling the model more so than the actual story or setting.
Typical boudoir more often than not offers the model up as an object of desire, utilising soft light in an idealistic setting.

Great work regardless smile

Great job...When I see the word "boudoir" my first thought is that I'm going to be clicking on some cheesy photo that will be an embarrassment for the model if not right now, a few years down the road. Something you won't want the grandkids to see. These aren't that. In forty years, the grand kids will say..."grandma was cool"

Good shots, but a technical point of issue: They are noisy/grainy.

Sometimes that's good, sometimes that's bad. Need to address for the times it's bad.

I think not seeing too much of the face is especially great here.
That being said I think photo 3 is the best one. Really sexy and seductive. Great start!

I think you've clearly developed a great style that suits this genre. Fantastic work!

I don't do boudoir, But these are fantastic. The images stand very well on their own, but as someone mentioned earlier, if it was part of the series, maybe more with the face of the model.
