I am planning to buy a Fuji X-T1 and the 56mm 1.2,but this lens is twice the price of the Nikon or even the Sigma 50mm 1.4(not the art lens)
Does anyone shoot with any of the above combinations and what is your experience?

Many thanks for answers

No advice here, sorry.

But I do have an observation: f-stops are rounded.  One chart shows f/1.2 to be 1/3 stop wider than f/1.4.  Another chart shows f/1.2 to be 1/2 stop wider.  Either way, I wonder if such a small small difference is worth the price.

Should be a 1/2 stop.

I have only shot the Fuji X series with Fuji lens OP

I have shot with all sorts of lenses on the Fuji X-T1.

Wide open the Fuji 56mm 1.2 is much better than the Nikon 50mm 1.4 or 1.8.

In particular LoCA is much better.

It makes a significant difference to design a lens specifically for the size of the sensor.

As far as overall look the Fuji is also nicer in particular when shot wide open.

Also you would have no control over the aperture is you buy a Nikon g series lens, so you would have to buy an older Nikon lens.

The reason I bought the Fuji X-T1 was for compactness, EVF , really good manual focus support and the 56mm 1.2 that in my opinion is a vert special lens.

There is more to it than the f stop difference.

Using the Nikon you will lose AF.
You need a more expensive adapter to control f stops with a Nikon G lens.
Focusing has to be done stopped down or you have to manually stop down
after focusing.

Once the Nikon's projected image is cropped to the APS-C sensor
the image quality is not a match for the Fuji lens.

Also the whole ergonomics go down the toilet.

Many thanks for input,

I might just have to eat only boiled rice for a few months to save up for the Fuji smile

There is a Novoflex adapter ( and some cheaper ones ) that have a ring to adjust the aperture of G lenses. When I have used an adapted lens on the X-Pro1 I have struggled with focus. That was before the focus peaking firmware upgrade and in low light conditions.

This...the Fuji is the superior lens of the two.

But for the most part you won't see a huge difference unless you pixel peep and some of the image quality issues can be mitigated in ACR or Lightroom.

Yup but it's sad to lose the excellent AF on the X-T!

However a good case for the Nikon 50mm 1.4 would be if you already own Nikon cameras or if you also want a kip on shift adapter to use with the X-T1.

I use a shift adapter on the x-t1, but chose an Olympus OM (film lens) kip on Tilt Shift Adapter. Nice and compact. Very clean stopped down, but also interesting and with nice flair behavior when wide open.
