Would really like some honest and polite feedback. I have some photos here, or more on my site which is listed in my bio.

Any help is appreciated, just to make sure I'm going in the right direction. I've been invited to an agency open day next month and want to go in feeling confident, or at least knowing where I can improve.

Thank you.

You are making all the beginner mistakes, you are using many images of the same look you should have just one, the make ups all resemble each other and the face painting stuff is weak compared to what is being done out there by airbrush artists.

You need clean make up, commercial make up, editorial make up, reconstructive make up examples.  Be careful of your eyebrows which are way overdone or make up that is generally too dark.

www.jedroot.com go there and see what a book needs to be.  Then get back to work.

finally you should become either a licensed cosmetologist/ make up artist or esthetician  to work on major sets, I'm not sure about the laws in the UK but they are standards here in the US and most countries where I have worked.

FACE PAINTING - it looks a bit amateurish

The face painting wasn't that bad, it just needs to be bolder.

I think that also goes for all the other work, it just needs to be bolder.

Also, before/after photos would be good to see.

Like what the others have said, you do have too many of the same look though.

Select one (the best) photo from each set.  Having more is not adding anything - in fact it detracts from your portfolio.

A lot of the images in your portfolio are of poor quality.  It is difficult to judge makeup application if the photos are poor or the faces are small in the frame.  Work with photographers to get images specifically for your portfolio.  You need images which pay particular attention to facial lighting.

For example, this could be the greatest makeup job ever or the worst - very difficult to tell from this photo.  It does not belong in a MUA portfolio.

For me these are your strongest images, because they show your work and diversity

I wish you well
