This reminds me of the feeling of looking in the mirror for the first time with a new prescription after not getting new glasses for years, and feeling like you're able to suddenly see every blemish and mark that's ever been on your face. Hehe. After LensCrafters....time to stop at the Sephora! sad

*nods*

Yes, and I'm never looking in that 16X magnifying makeup mirror again!

I'd rather live in delusion.

Pretty much a normal event.

My eye doc told me that a person in their 50's eyesight Rx will change about every 2-3 years on average between 50-60 years of age.  I used to go in every year (insurance) and it changed maybe 1/8 diopter, but every two years and it got me new glasses since they deem a quarter diopter change as needed.  The vanity crowd (Corrective laser Rx'ing people) who go in later in life are now getting to the age they find they need another correction which might not be a candidate for the laser fix again, and maybe even a cataract lens change too.

Can't beat out mother nature and the aging process.  She'll win.

I'm now at a point where monovision (one lens for far, one for near) is becoming obsolete and I'll have to go with bifocals.  When I turned forty, my eye doctor thought it was funny to ask me if my arms weren't quite long enough...

:sigh:

You're lucky you made it to 50 without bi-focals......most folks don't.

Just because you don't see so good doesn't mean that you don't look good.

My husband had his lasik done that way - one for close up one for far.

Luckily, my issue is just seeing the close-up stuff....

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.... approaching 70 and still buy magnifiers (now 1.5 or 1.75) from Sam's club

I got bifocals because I had to. My son has a food allergy and those pesky labels were becoming a major problem. My best friend uses those credit card sized magnifiers she carries in her purse. She's younger and had vision corrective surgery so she doesn't need glasses to see far away anymore.

Trying to read food labels was originally what made me realize I needed glasses!

Thumbs up. You wouldn't believe how many people never read them.
