I'm a new model trying to get my name out and find work in the Louisville/midwest area. Any recommendations on how I should go about making myself known?

I would suggest working on your portfolio before you try to start marketing yourself.  You only get one shot at a first impression.

I suggest two things:
1) Post an availability notice under casting/travel
2) Browse photographers in your area and find one whose photos are slightly better than yours and send a PM suggesting TF
