Hi.  Yesterday, I went to this makeup school in south FL.  They hired about seven models, and it was a paid gig.  The students are graduating on August 22nd.  They needed models to come in as a final exam type of thing.  I worked with two artist and had a photo shoot done after each look.  Images will be returned in about one week.

Models and others:  do you guys know of any schools or other places in the south FL area that hire and pay models for gigs like this or something similar?  This school was located in Fort Lauderdale/Oakland Park.

There may be a few TFP things out there, but I'm mostly interested in the paid work.

Your best bet is to do the work and contact the make-up schools in the area you're willing to work directly. While the potential for referrals can be nice, by relying on that primarily you may be missing out on opportunities that you could create for yourself e.g. if the school itself doesn't pay models there may be students who are willing to pay for one out of pocket to ensure that they have someone reliable available or to ensure that they're getting practice on all skin tones and types. Be proactive and prepare to be amazed by what other opportunities you may find.

The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and the International Art School in Miami may both have fashion photography classes that need models. May or may not be paid but you get photos. Fort Lauderdale has a fashion design class that has a fashion show final that needs models. Don't know if the students have to employ their own model to show their designs.
