Hi all I have ideas for a TFP low/no budget lookbook shoot for a competition next month. It's outdoors and at several locations however I've never done one so I have a few questions... I'm going to put out a casting for a model, MUA and stylist but firstly I need to know a few things about whats the norm for this kind of shoot. So here goes: 1. Does the MUA bring their own materials? 2. Does the stylist provide some clothes/accessories/props? 3. For outfit changes, where does the model change if it's on location? Thanks

Thanks Michael you've been on Mayhem a week and you're Casting for complex location catalog? Might want to invest some time researching the forums (Stylist, Photographers, Models etc.) before you attempt something this complex... Remember you get only one chance to make a good impression... Might be wise to know your craft (master it) and likewise set etiquette first, then proceed slowly into the industry.... btw, all the answers to this query have been given countless times on the forums... please use due diligence, k? what this means is a comprehensive appraisal of the entire spectrum of expertise you are soliciting... Hope this makes sense... All the best on your journey...

Firstly, I have plenty of experience on mid-level commercial sports shoots that don't require stylists and MUAs because it's product focused. Secondly, would you be able to direct me to where these answers are? I did search within title and content phrases like "mua makeup provide" "stylist provide props" "own supplies" "own clothes" "stylist expectations" "mua expectations" "outfit changes" "change on location" "Lookbook clothes changes on location" etc. They returned results discussed subjects around what I was looking for but didn't answer my questions. Maybe I'm searching the wrong things or perhaps modelmayhems search tools are lacking in some way but I did try - hence this post. I've recently joined modelmayhem because I want to move into the clothing industry - an area where my portfolio is lacking.

The best thing for you to do is go on the "Browse" option, and search for MUA'S and stylists, have a look at their work and if you like it, just contact them with your ideas and questions. Usually a stylist will just bring clothes, and a makeup artist will bring their own kit. I'd also advise you to at least do research for your project, such as style of clothes, look into what models you feel will fit your project style, discuss ideas with makeup artists and stylists so that they can help you find the perfect look, and note down locations or lighting setups, don't just wing it and turn up on the day with no clue what to do, it could look unprofessional-

Thanks So MUA's have their own kit, so you don't have to worry about buying makeup.A stylist will usually bring the clothes and accessories.Unless the clothing is already provided. If you need props you should probably look for a prop stylist.Sometimes model's on set change either in their car, public restroom,or on set.
