Hi guys, I'm an amateur who wants to start with a decent portfolio. Of course, before the variety of the photos I'd have to choose, I know I have to have good photos first.

The photos I have right now are mostly from test shoots, which is why they're minimally edited, if edited at all. I was hoping to know your insights about my current photos. Also, would it be better to have them edited, or is there a good thing about the photos being raw?

Thanks in advance. smile

Let us know what type of modeling you wish to pursue and we can better direct the critique to something that will help you progress. There's a buddy system available where you can find a model and ask for a in-depth critique and direction.

Also, refer to the images as "unedited" instead of RAW. RAW is a file type that comes from the camera and it gets a bit confusing. Most images are edited for color, exposure and light retouching to remove blemishes and unwanted dust/specks.

As has been said, the preferred terminology is retouched and unretouched.

In my opinion there is no point in displaying images containing flaws.  If the flaws can be corrected, then it's good good to retouch them - certainly better than displaying them in an unfinished condition.

Many thanks for the correction (and apologies) about the terminology, I'll keep that in mind for sure. As for the type of modeling, I'm thinking more of commercial and/or print. I didn't want to put this in Serious Critiques seeing as my port's not really headed towards anywhere specific as of the moment.

Thanks for the insight, good point. No harm in showing a better photo.

I also wanted to ask, if I may, for your opinions on what type of modeling I'd be fit to pursue? I know it also depends on my preference and all, but seeing that sometimes a certain type of modeling demands for a certain type of model, I thought I'd ask for insights.
