Hi there, I am only a amateur.. I have some examples of photos I've recently taken below, could someone tell me what I could have done to improve the images and what I should do in the future? I have a canon 70d and use a 18-200mm lens. http://i62.tinypic.com/2l8chzr.jpg http://i58.tinypic.com/3524u91.jpg http://i61.tinypic.com/2edm7ug.jpg http://i57.tinypic.com/ncnlft.jpg Sep 24 14 07:27 pm Link 1. Does your lens have a consistent apeture through out the lens from 18 to 200? If the lens has vaiable apeture than you lose light at the telephoto's top range 2. Are you shooting in manual or automatic? It makes a big difference when you want to play with light 3. Are you shooting in raw.... More details 4. Are you using a post process software? I use Lightroom 5. Learn about exposure and depth of field. That would have helped you get a blur in the background of the first dog picture. Learn about white balance that would have helped you get the color right in the baby picture. The second dog picture is better because the background was the grass. But don't cut off his feet. Good luck have fun and shoot, shoot, shoot Sep 24 14 07:49 pm Link Krissy M wrote: Honestly they're not very good. Poor lighting, composition and focus. You should be able to get some really nice shots with the camera and lens you have. Sep 24 14 07:49 pm Link I am an amateur also, so take what I say with a grain of salt, or a dabble of vegemite. I wouldn't do RAW files, or worry about lightroom right now. I would practice the basics - aperture and depth of field, exposure, white balance, shutterspeed, composition, focus, etc. B and H photo offers some great videos on youtube. Studying famous paintings can also help with composition. http://www.artrenewal.org/ is a great site. Oh, and shoot in manual, when you are learning (and I am still learning) it is easier to learn when you have control of as many varibles as possible. Sep 27 14 03:58 pm Link Hey Krissy, If you are wanting to team up with some photographers to help you get started. There is a wonderful Meet up group in Brissy called http://www.meetup.com/Brisbane-Models-M … 210691872/ everyone helps each other out there if you wanna tag along Oct 01 14 07:17 am Link The last picture of the dog is better then the first [Would like to see his feet] Why, the first seems messy, buildings, hose and other items Photos seem to lack pop, will guess they have not been adjusted in a Photoshop type program Make sure the eyes are in sharp focus Try shooting in RAW then use the canon Digital Professional Program that came with the camera. It will allow you to adjust the white balance after the shoot; help adjust the color by either presets or Eye Dropper for custom white balance. It will also adjust contrast; sharpness so can add some zip to the photos I like the screaming kid photo lots of emotion Think the kid in the blanket would have been better with something other then black, try pink, blue next time We all started some place, so welcome Oct 01 14 09:25 am Link Welcome to MM Try cropping the second dog picture into a portrait. It might look a little dark when you do that. You could bring it up a little bit with the exposure settings on the software. (It has been a long time since I touched the Cannon software, and I am struggling to remember if that adjustment was there.) The girl on the swing is very interesting. Oct 01 14 10:05 am Link |
