Pocket wizard all of a sudden stopped working. Further investigation showed something in the syc port came loose. It plugs and clicks in, but wobbles around. Works ok on the hotshoe but when sync cord is plugged in and connected to my moonlight it doesn't work. Not covered under warranty because I purchased off ebay.  Looks like I'll be getting out the soldering iron and doing some surgery soon.
Has anybody experienced this issue before? They were never dropped btw.

With their 1/8" tip/sleeve connectors. (mono headphone jack)
Yes. They break inside. Lovely stuff. :-(. Thankfully the thing is serviceable as not surface mount. Also check the sync cord for continuity and shorts - and obviously all the zone switch settings (1,2,3,4) to see if you asked it to do other stuff.

Umm, looks like the 3+ would be surface mount due to the LCD etc.. Rx/Tx - I own 2 plus, at least it gives me a second 1/8 recepticle in case of fail

I love my Cybersyncs!!! The Cybercommander can be daunting with all of the menus to work through, but never had a problem.

Have had that problem with another brand. It is simply a cold solder connection. You can fix it easily, by using a standard handy man soldering iron to reheat the solder joint, and make a good connection.

That works if you can live with 4 channels.

As to the OP, I have sent wizards in for repair.  They are quick and reasonably priced.
