**SOLUTION FOUND. THANKS TO ALL FOR INPUT***
I accidentally hit a dial on my Canon and didn't catch it until after she changed outfits. I'm still waiting on CS5 for Dummies to arrive and I'm FAR from being skilled at retouching. In the meantime, I've tried 3 different youtube tutorials and haven't gotten it right yet. Suggested paths to fix? Can it be saved?

If you have the RAW file, maybe.

You should start by adjusting the exposure and highlights to address the hot areas. Camera RAW can be your friend.

Definitely agree here. From the RAW file you could still play with the Exposure as well as the Highlights options in whichever RAW conversion software you have.

with the RAW file and Lightroom you can adjust the exposure, not really anything to be done about the soft focus though.

I started shooting in which each image I take is saved in the RAW file and the JPEG. It's so much easier to fix an image from the RAW form. Photoshop could help.

Here's an idea, donno how practical it will be here but...
If some of the texture is left, try frequency separation, then do this.
1. clone/heal some of the texture, so it will be stronger in the blown out areas on the high frequency, then
2. paint on the low frequency with continues colour sampling and soft brush on low flow.

it helped me in a similar situation where Camera Raw didn't

I dropped your jpg into camera raw and brought down the highlights and did some light painting on the blown out areas also.....not an extreme fix...tried to leave the rest as you posted.

If you have the raw file for this shot I could work on it for you and give you some tips on what I did.

I was waiting until I got better at CS5 before shooting RAW but you've given reason enough not to wait.

I didnt know this could be done and will try this myself. Thanks for the suggestion, and it'll be RAW going forward.

My humble attempt, not sure if its what you're going for.
