It has always been for me that I am drawn to broken things, to the darker shades of life. Anything morbid, or decayed, or dying, always held my attention. It was as if watching the very moment that death slipped in, and started to reclaim a life was like watching God walking in front of me. That small moment made life seem all the more real, all the more beautiful. It made life, and everything that we feel inside her boundaries somehow perfect. All the pain and hurt and frustration was just as wonderful and needed as the joy and laughter.
I have often been asked why it is that I focus on the despair, the loneliness, the hurting in a person. I always say, because it is beautiful. The whole world focuses on sunshine, I love the shadows. And my work is where others can come and share their shadows, their ghosts, and together we create something uncommon. Together we create things that move others to feel deeper, to know a greater movement of life and living. That is my greatest hope, to sing with the tongue of strangeness in the effort to darken the night so that the stars can shine all the brighter.
FOR THOSE WISHING TO WORK WITH ME:
I have heard it said that, in photography a model is just a hanger that a photographer hangs his dreams upon. I would hope that I am never so arrogant that I would be that blind. To me, the model is invited to dream with me, to see where our brokeness touches, and then to sing a song that each of us knows in the deepest parts of our soul. I never want to feel like I am creating so thing original, rather something that every human heart has felt.
Working with me is not easy, and it is not the usual. I will create concepts that might rend your heart, the may pull at your soul and ask it to break. I am not looking for surface shallow smiles or glamourous beauty. I pray that you will not look at me for such things either.
The more personal you make something, the more universally touching it becomes. I ask you for vulnerability and an intimate knowing. Then, we can create something so horribly wonderful that it breaks the heart of the viewer.
I do ask for a few other things. That if you schedule with me that you honor your commitment. Come prepared to spend a few hours at least. Have all the necessary grooming done before you arrive. And bring a form of picture i.d..
SETTING UP A SHOOT:
Once you have decided that you're interested in working with me, write me. I will only know you are interested in working with me if you say so. Tell me the days that you are usually available to shoot. Dates don't usually work because I am often booked up a couple months in advance. Let me know what you would like to shoot, and what you are interested focusing on. If you are so inspired, write me a bit about yourself and your story.
A FEW LAST THINGS:
I have no money to buy your time, and I will not ask you to pay for mine. If the art isn't a good enough reason to work with me there are many many other photographers on here willing to pay you for your smile. I am fine with escorts, though I do ask that you find someone other that a boy/girl friend to accompany you. Wives and husbands are absolutely welcome to come. Please arrive on time. If you're going to be late please call me and let me know. I look forward to working with you.
