About Me

Tyler Jordan, born and raised in Northern Ontario demonstrated artistic tendencies at a very young age. He was trained as a visual artist at SDVA Barrie, and then acquired a great deal of experience in photography while exploring his interest in portraiture and figurative painting. His multidisciplinary style and dynamic works draw from the traditions of performance art, painting and photography, providing beautifully abstract and highly expressive portraits of his models. Jordan exudes the endless skill of the contemporary artist by integrating both modern forms of digital art with the more traditional methods of portraiture and painting.

Light specifically is the most important element to my work because without it there would be no picture! I also find it extremely interesting that light on it's own is invisible. Light can only be seen when it hits something. This phenomenon is incredibly pleasurable when water is involved. As an abstract material, I use the water and the waters surface to draw within the photographs. The camera becomes a tool and documents the performance and imagery that I create through the manipulation of the light and water. The bubbles and forms that it creates when it's frozen in a photograph is sculptural but still has a visual fluidity. The figures underneath become muted.
