I am a Detroit-based fine art exotic/erotic/experimental photographer whose pseudonym is the acronym for Dark Vision Studio (www.dvsdetroit.com), as well as a play on the word "devious", to which I embrace the definition "departing from the common norm".

NOTE: All work was created physically within the studio with nothing added digitally.

To me, the true art lies within all aspects of the physical creation of the vision that lead to the brief moment when the shutter opens and closes.  I enjoy creating unorthodox lighting environments, unusual photographic gadgetry, hand-made wardrobes and props to enhance the vision without need for any digital effects added in editing.  I am drawn to the "smoke and mirrors" technique of pushing the eye and mind to see what I wish through delicate perspectives, strategic shadows and a little dramatic flair.  I also love the inclusion of real elements such as fire and earth and am drawn deeply towards shadowplay in general.

Inspirations: My inspirations are many, but primarily threefold.  The first traditionally stems from continually evolving spiritual explorations and lucid thoughts of self.  The second is perceptions of the model's persona and overall essence to hopefully infuse these within the collaborative art.  The third is simply but most importantly music.  I always strategically choose music for my sessions to help direct the overall emotive aspect of visions we are creating together.

Models: I am continually exploring new ideas and directions so I am always seeking new model collaborators to bring these visions to life.  Those of little fear wishing to simply become respected subjects to mad experimentations are greatly cherished.  However, I deeply ♥ those who are impassioned with the fires of inspiration and creativity within themselves.  Model/artist? 

Nudity: True, the majority of my images are artistic nude in essence, however nudity is "never" expected nor coerced.  Respect for all limits and personal comfort levels is integral to an enjoyable and productive session.  Nevertheless, I "do" have a preference towards those wonderfully free individuals who allow imaginings to flourish with few or no boundaries.  Artistic nudes are not about seeing your "nom-noms", but an expression of spiritual freedom, timeless beauty, sensual strength and dynamic elegance.

Escorts: Yep, I allow them as long as they don't disrupt the session like the jealous overly-protective insecure "significant other".   And "no no no" to bringing other photographers unless you ask permission first.  However, feel free to bring friends who are makeup artists, hair stylists, fashionistas, models or generally the quiet "are they still here?" type.

Trades: Time is extremely valuable to me as I am sure it is to you.  As much as I respect a model's desire for payment for this art, I only offer gas compensation for the more distanced travel situations, unless you consider cookies as currency.
