Jon Lawlor’s interest in photography began in high school. Intrigued by many of the assignments for creative photo essays, Jon soon began not only to play with the subject matter but also various effects such as lighting and stop-motion.
Jon’s photography career started in the film era, where he produced eloquent pictures using both color and black-and-white film. While some photo subjects cry out for colors, others show more character in stark black and white or shades of both.
Although he still has a passion for film, he quickly adapted to the digital realm and now works almost exclusively in the digital arena. This medium enables him to take numerous photos more efficiently and effectively. With the addition of photo software, he is able to create images of greater or lesser power, depending on the requirements and wishes of the clients.
While digital photography and the software that complements it allow for a greater range of quality, in the end a picture is only as good as the talents of the photographer who takes it. Pictures taken badly cannot be transformed into masterpieces by Photoshop. That’s why Jon has worked on perfecting not only the science but also the art of photography.
