Sometimes it's hard to believe, but it all started out as a dare, no less.  "Enter a local physique competition, and put up, or shut up."  That started it all a little over two years ago, when I entered a local show, got the win, and more importantly, the confidence to continue forward, which has resulted in 5 national titles, exposure in several publications, involvement on a national campaign, work at fitness industry trade shows, and most importantly to me, the love and respect of friends and colleagues in the field of exercise physiology that I've loved almost my entire life--but that's another--longer story ;-).

Most recently, I capped off a great September with my first assignment for Men's Health magazine's up-coming December issue and my second win at the 2007 Mr. Fitness Male Model Search National Championships in New York City.

The next weekend, I had the opportunity to do a few more photoshoots with some great friends--photographers and models in the business, work the MHP booth at the Olympia weekend, and sign the summer's covers and speak with many of the people who came through.

Earlier this summer, I took 4th out of upwards of 70 fierce competitors who all looked fantastic at the annual Model Universe held in Miami, FL.  One of the judges told me after the show that he absolutely hated what I was wearing in two of the three rounds, and that if I'd picked better outfits, I might have done better.  "Thanks, I think,,," was what I thought, but I'm thinking wow, could have done better than 4th!--with better clothes.  What does that mean.  A possible win?  No way of knowin' I guess.  So there I was, chillin' the Sunday morning after the show, getting ready to go out and hang with some friends, when I get an e-mail from a good friend of mine saying,
  "Just got my fall 2007 issue Maximum Fitness.  The shot of you that Paul Buceta took is on the cover.  It looks awesome.
You made the cover, your goal.  Congratulations!  I'm proud of you."
  So needless to say, I'm was pretty stoked!  Still am, for that matter.  And if that weren't enough, two more covers came out the same time in Canada & Europe with Inside Fitness Magazine as well.  All proof positive to me, that dreams really can come true...!!!

So what's next, well,,, all this has taught me to not think small, and I'm getting a lot of interest in my nutrition & training techniques both guys & gals, so I'm kicking a book idea, or at the very least, some detailed articles on exactly how to get it done.

All this being said, I realize I've gotten a bit windy, so if you've read this far, and I've sent you a Friend Request, it's because I like your work.  If you have the time to tag or comment, I'll make time to return the favor.

Now, as at the beginning of my fitness/modeling journey, my main goal is to collaborate with other talent to produce memorable images that we all can both be proud of.  The future could be the best time for all of us if we network together and help each other out as we should.  While my time is more constrained than it was two years ago, I'm still always looking to meet photographers and models who want to create images that fit along a spectrum from the typical fitness magazine shot to more mainstream pics that we all see in print ads for jeans, underwear, cologne, etc.  This is the type of modeling assignments I'm currently pursuing, but am always open to obvious creativity and look forward to hearing new ideas and if time and location permit, working on them with as many of you as is possible.

I'm available to travel if I can get help with expenses. My rates can be very flexible and I will consider posing in exchange for prints for very select assignments or tear sheet projects.  So if you have an idea, hit me with it, and lets see what we put together!
