Edward Olivier was born June 11th, 1975 in Paramaribo, Suriname. His family immigrated to the Netherlands in 1983, where he found his passion for creating images after reading a comic book. He has spent most of his time drawing ever since. This eventually led him to enroll into the Graphic Lyceum Amsterdam, which he graduated in 1993, with a degree in graphical techniques. After working in the graphical industry he found that being at that end of the creative process didn’t sustain his desire of creating his own vision. In 2009 he decided to put that life on hold to pursue that desire, and travelled to California. He enrolled into Cabrillo College, taking courses in Art & Digital Photography, Theatre Make-Up and Digital Media. His work has been exhibited at the Cabrillo College art gallery. His body of work contains mostly, but is not limited to, images of men of African heritage taken at intimate moments; they are soft, sensual and candid. After 2 years at Cabrillo College he intends to take that vision back to the Netherlands and start his own studio.
