I am Gary Cutrell, born on a farm near Indanapolis, Indiana in 1947. I have two brothers and one sister, two children and two grandchildren. I moved to Fort Valley, Georgia in 1953, with my parents and family to a 600 acre farm in Peach County, Georgia. I am 62 years old. I Studied at the Famous Photographer's School under top photographers of Life Magazine, Look, People, and others from 1970 to 1974. I worked on the farm until 1967, and then went into the US Air Force to become a jet engine mechanic. After the Air Force, I worked as a draftsman for a prominent landscape architect for 4 1/2 years. I hold one US patent, so far. Worked on F-15 Fighter aircraft for 21 years as an aircraft mechanic,... a damned good mechanic, I must say! Designed several tools for the USAF that I never got paid for. I have done about 75 magazine covers, about 300 brochures, about 12 billboards, and have lit and somewhat directed a number of television commercials. Also photographed over 500 weddings. My current day-job is working as a base photographer at Warner Robins Air Force Base. Been doing that for 13 years. They begged me to give up my F-15 job to work for them. My primary duties there is studio work, shooting about 3,000 portraits per year. I also do the plane crashes, murders, investigation, the grip and grin, and ceremonies, and a lot of other stuff there. I love portfolio work, portraits, life style, advertising, fashion, wedding, and artistic stuff whenever I can find a model that is actually serious about it! A good model "shows-up" and sometimes calls, and says she'll "be over in ten minutes". I've been moonlighting as a photographer for nearly 40 years, sometimes making more money than my day-job pays. I paint also. Google me and you'll see 'em. They don't look like photographs! I have used the Rollei, Hasselblad, Nikon, Canon, and Contax systems. At the present time, I'm using Nikon and Fujifilm cameras. My favorite light system is Dyna-Lite, my favorite reflectors are the California Sunbounce, my favorite light stands are Matthews C-Stands, and my favorite tripod is Gitzo with a Magicball head.
