I shoot most of my projects in medium format black & white, but I do use digital as a backup. Each shoot starts with trips to flea markets where I find odd, intriguing objects of my fancy of which to base the shoot around. Sometimes I even create objects, clothing, & adornments especially for the shoot. My photos generally have a dark, creepy feel, so my models may need to have an open mind & strong stomach. I mostly use friends as models, but am always watching for interesting faces & characters. I currently work as a photographer's assistant for the talented Dave Anderson. I am trying to jump start my career as if now, so I cannot afford to pay my models, but instead offer them a large (16x20) bw fiber print of their choice and one hi-resolution digital file or a cd of med-resolution selects. I rarely ever use male models. Artist Statement I was a quiet, introverted child who was constantly daydreaming and creating. I started drawing to make tangible what I saw inwardly. Due to my religious upbringing and my fascination with the Bible’s Book Revelations, I began having terrifying apocalyptic dreams, which turned a carefree child into one of a darker nature. My beliefs have changed, and I still regularly have nightmares, but I have come to see my dreams as a blessing and a guide rather than a sickness. Art has been my way of coping with the harshness of reality and my dreams alike. My works lie in limbo between fearful uncertainty and carefree bliss. The girls in my works confront the viewer as if one were to stumble upon the climax before a waking dream. My mixed media photographs allow the viewer a glimpse into that place where the physical merges effortlessly with the intangible, between the wallpaper and the shadows.
