Charles Mann is a commercial, equine and stock photographer based in Rising Sun, Maryland. His interest in photography began while taking photos for his high school yearbook and for local newspapers in Frederick, Maryland. Charlie worked as studio manager for stock photographer Jon Feingersh in Rockville, MD for seven years doing everything from set building to shooting. During this time he also was covering various equine events part-time.

In 2000, he set out on his own and has traveled around the world photographing sports at the Olympics, World Equestrian Games and Pan-American Games. He has covered the equestrian events at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia, the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece and the 2008 Olympics (Beijing) in Hong Kong. He has been Photo Manager at the World Cup in Las Vegas several times and was Photo Chief during the 2008 US Gymnastics Selection Trials at the Wachovia Center, Philadelphia, PA.

In 2003 he was asked to join Arnd Bronkhorst Photography, an elite group of 6 photographers based in Europe. Arnd has one of the largest online searchable databases with over 120,000 equine images. This partnership has allow his images to be published regularly in more than 30 magazines and Web sites around the world, his work has appeared in numerous books, news papers, calendars, greeting cards and posters. He also works with top advertising agencies, supplying photos to clients such as Purina, Rolex, Merial and Bayer.

In 2006 he joined forces with Trafalgar Square Publishing on his first book, Photographing and “Videoing” Horses Explained: Digital and Film, which has received great reviews from both the equine world and general photography.

He is currently expanding his work to include more general stock images. He has images with a variety of stock agencies including iStock.com, Alamy.com, and Stock Connection which has placed his images with various other agencies around the world.
