My name is Hunter Artz. I have more than 30 years of experience in photography, but there is photography in my family’s background also. My grandfather, John Rankin (my mother’s father), was a photographer for the New York Times in the 1930s. He joined the Army at age 28 during WWII. His job with the military was to mount cameras in the bombay doors of B42's and photographed enemy placements to be used for maps to keep track of the enemy’s position. They called him Pappy in the Army, he was a tough man and a hell of a photographer. He died when I was 13, but I was fortunate enough to work with him when I was young doing photography and working in the darkroom.

Before my marriage in 1992, I photographed hundreds of bands, but primarily Van Halen, Journey, Ted Nugent, Rush and Ozzy Osborne. I also photographed celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Clint Eastwood, Robert DuVall, Charleton Heston, Tommy Lee Jones, Ricky Schroeder, Bruce Dern, Robert Redford, Debra Winger and shot publicity shots for movies like Tightrope and Lonesome Dove.

I’ve been published in Playboy, Shape, Fitness, Hit Parader, Cream, Rolling Stone Magazine, Time, Newsweek, Outdoor Life, Texas Parks & Wildlife, Lonestar Bowhunters, Field and Stream, North American Bowhunter, American Hunter and World Bow Hunters Magazine and more recently in Musicfest and Best in Texas Magazines.

After my marriage in 1992, in order to devote more time to my new wife and family, my lifestyle changed and I worked primarily as a private investigator specializing in video and photographic surveillance, but continued photography work with private shoots and weddings, receptions and parties. After my divorce in 2004, I began photographing for bands, venues, and promoters again. Since 2004, I have photographed most, if not all, the Texas Music bands.

In addition to being an expert shot with a camera, I have achieved the status of Sharpshooter with a rifle and Expert Marksman with a pistol as recognized by The National Rifle Association.

I pride myself for my past work and also my current work. I love my job, especially when it comes to shooting beautiful women.
