Hi! Here's a little update/info about me:

Scheduling a shoot:

Message me here on MM. Introduce yourself. Acknowledge the session fee and tell me whether you have an idea or if you are simply wanting to be a part of one of my original shoots. We'll set the date and get the ball rolling with active communication.

PLEASE NOTE WHAT TO EXPECT FROM SCHEDULING A SHOOT WITH ME:

I am treating and healing from late stage Lyme Disease. I am unable to work a job, as I am unreliable to appear each day. That being said, if you are paying me to photograph you, you will no longer be held responsible for the session fee if I have to cancel/reschedule. I will photograph you for free upon our rescheduled date. I am never going to "flake" on a shoot. I will also do my best to avoid canceling because I have very little means for upgrading my gear and paying MUA/H, etc.

I will have up until the day of the shoot to cancel/reschedule because some days I just wake up wrong and there's no getting better that day. Look on the bright side - if this happens to you, the rescheduled shoot is free. Keep in mind that I do not have a day job; if I have to cancel/reschedule, it will mean that I couldn't fight through the pain enough to do it.

You, on the other hand, may cancel/reschedule at any time. It's important to me that you are in the mood and feeling the vibe. If you're having a bad day, by all means, reschedule! Just don't flake, and please note that you will still be responsible for the session fee. wink

A tiny bit about me:

I recently left my beloved home studio in North Carolina and relocated to Los Angeles to be closer to a treatment center while living in a stable weather climate to ease the pain from humidity and cold winters.

All of that being said - I am super laid back, open-minded, & a bit weird... I love Stephen King and pot belly pigs. I love Spain and jazz music. I once had a giant photography studio in my house in North Carolina. I desperately want that back. I love nature and the circus. I love deductive reasoning and sailboats. I love making lists about things I love. I love LA!!

Studio and New Equipment:

I desperately need a studio (even to simply collaborate with and pay an hourly rate) for art sets. Please contact me if you have a studio anywhere near Silverlake/Los Feliz!

I am hoping to regain & expand my photography with studio, lighting equipment, fancy new lenses, costumes, props, a budget for a creative team, etc. which means I cannot TF* unless I have a specific shoot in mind and I request your work... or if I have to cancel/reschedule our initial paid shoot.

About the fee:

If you request my work, there will be a session fee which covers hours (sometimes days) of editing, as well as travel costs, a creative team (if any), a studio (if any), lens rental (if any), & my session time/talent during the actual shoot.

When you request me for a shoot, you are stating that you're open to the cost. Also, if you are hiring me, please let me know if you have a specific concept in mind or if you want to be involved in one of my concept shoots (I will send you a list of fully formed ideas I already have). I am open to going either way.

As my funds increase, so will the quality of the images (and so will my health). Hooray!

The number of images shot varies upon the productive nature of the shoot. I will never shoot for longer than 2 hours ($100 per hour).

A few notes about edits:

I will never edit more than 20 images - unless it's for an event or casual/natural photo session, which costs something else entirely. Keep in mind that the work that I am mostly going to be focusing on takes hours, and sometimes days, of editing. Contact me about events or casual/natural photo sessions for more info on this kind of pricing.

I will never give you unedited photos. I'm sorry if that bothers you, I can't tell you how awful it feels to have my work displayed as it was not intended. To me, it's much like presenting a painting before it's been finished. Soooo hard to experience.

My Goals:

I'm interested in eventually having the means to create some seriously intricate art (sets, costumes, etc.). I am inspired by the photography of Eugenio Recuenco, but realize it will take some time & practice (and, not to mention, money for equipment, sets, props, sylists, etc.) to ever reach my own personal artistic goals. In the mean time, I'm trying my best to continuously improve with what means I do have.

What I edit with:

Adobe PhotoShop
Adobe LightRoom

I have been using Adobe products for digital editing for about 15 years.

What I shoot with:

Nikon D7000, DSLR
2 lenses - Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 , Nikon 50mm f/1.4

I have been photographing for about a year (see below).

Why I started doing photography:

I've always loved using cameras, but I only began creating serious, artistic photographs when I was gifted the Nikon in May of 2011. I know! I'm new to this, but I have a solid vision that I am working toward, and I believe I've improved, so I have hope and inspiration to keep going. When I became sick, I spent 4 years in pain and unable to continue doing the things I'd always loved to do throughout my life. I couldn't work, and I admit, I had moments of pity where I cried my heart out about my disability. All of a sudden, a gift was given to me by someone who saw me taking fun pictures of a friend who had come to take care of me one day. I was using an old, beat up point-and-shoot camera. But after doing some careful editing with Photoshop & Adobe Lightroom, I came up with this: CLICK

The moment I was handed a Nikon D7000, I got hooked into a streamline of inspiration. I found something that makes me feel better about living with an illness and, since shoots are only around an hour (2 at most), and no more than once per week, I am physically capable... especially with advanced bookings of a 2 week minimum. I spend the rest of the time either lying on the couch while editing previous shoots, or finding moments to photograph objects around the house for added practice.

Working with Me:

I like to shoot in natural light - outdoors just a couple of hours before dusk. I recently acquired lighting equipment (another gift), so some more staged shots are in the works. Models must come prepared to begin shooting unless otherwise specified (working with creative team on set, etc.).

I'd like to meet in advance so that I can get ideas about hair/makeup. That way, I'll know which stylist (if any is needed) to call.

It's also nice when models are professional and willing to try my suggestions. Nervous/uninspired models make me depressed - which makes my work look bad, so I'd prefer to never have those images published.

As for attitudes: I can either be open to hearing your vision (if you're hiring me) or I can give direction to you for mine; I'm super easy to work with, but please don't boss me around. I will work to make your vision come to life, so I'd hope I could get the same kind of help in realizing my vision. I won't step on your toes & please don't step on mine. smile

That being said, I'm willing to try ANYTHING! I never want to stop growing and improving my art.

--

[Glad I got all that out of the way.. onto more positive things!]

I am super friendly & somewhat of a space cadette. I consider myself a comedian, philosopher, designer, artist, musician, writer/poet, and a weirdo. This is probably what drives me to put my foot down about certain behaviors during shoots - I've been walked all over more times than I can count! I'm too nice.

Interested even though you can't afford it?

Shoot me a message if you're interested in working with me, even if you can't afford my rates - I am open to working out a deal if you have a look I'm interested in for a specific project. Please don't take it personally if I can't agree to a TF* shoot. My shoots have so much more to do with art than stereotypical beauty.

I ACCEPT ALL BODY TYPES.
