About Me

Michael J. Johnson has been drawing since he could hold a pencil. He started painting in oils when he was about 13. Being self taught Michael was convinced that pursuing the "artists life" was definitely a calling by obtaining an agent/representative for his work at age 16.

It was around this time that through great notoriety, Michael was presented the chance to go to a well renowned fine arts school via a scholarship. Michael had to present his portfolio of work and was awarded the Ramone Kelley Scholarship to the Arts Students League of Denver where he furthered his study of all areas of art under the tutelage of such Well known artist as Quang Ho, Jerry De La Cruz, Dale Chisman, Bill Starke and a number of surrounding artists such as Mark Travis, Darrell Anderson, John Howe and many others.

His work has remained varied in topic and subject matter. Usually dealing with the human form and abstract impressionism. One thing that is impossible to deny is that Michael's work insists you get emotionally involved with it's subjects and is strongly re-enforced with precise execution.

Presently Michael has been working on new bodies of work that express his current state of being, revisiting traditional methods with timeless interactive emotions for the viewer.

Michael has also had great success in the graphic design field. Doing everything from modest paraphernalia for local businesses and events, to world wide distributed designs for companies such as Reebok, Warner Bros. and  Fila to name a few.
