About me
Hi! I'm Matt. An average family guy, hanging out in Hyde Park, in the suburbs of Boston. I like food, drink and good people. Any excuse to go to a restaurant usually works for me.
Oh, and I also make my living with my camera and computer, creating photographs and photo illustrations for a wide variety of commercial clients.
This portfolio on ModelMayhem, represents some of my more adventuresome projects.
My photoshoots are creative collaborations designed to meet certain preset goals. For example, to me, your headshot is a character portrait. Who do you want to be in this picture? What should that person look like? Once we figure that out, we can put together a plan for how to make that happen.
Model Shoots:
If you are interested in booking me for a paid shoot, please email or call me and my studio manager or I will work with you to create an estimate for your production. We are often booked a month out.
Starter Specials:
Headshot sessions and other types of sessions can be shorter and the rates vary accordingly. Give me a call and we can discuss what you are looking to accomplish.
Commercial Shoots:
Commercial projects come across my desk that need models. However, I only use agency models or models that I have worked with on other projects. If I don't know you, chances are I won't hire you for a paid project. Yes, I consider model shoots working with you.
TFI and TFP:
If you have a killer concept that you want collaboration on, I am interested in hearing it. But, I am picky about who and which concepts I choose to shoot.
Images:
Paid shoots are set up to deliver to meet your requirements. That can involve an online contact sheet, any number of edited image files, prints, etc.
TFPs- I will deliver 72 dpi web site resolution images, optimized for sites such as MM, as part of the agreement. Prints for portfolio books can be delivered for $9 each up to 11x14 inches.
I do not do cds of every image shot. I do not provide any unedited images. Generally, I will provide 1-3 finished images per look. This is especially true for highly stylized images that require a lot of photoshop work. Unless, of course, we have talked about it and you have paid for more.
Comfort Levels
I try very hard to keep my shoots low key and fun. Frank discussions of the concepts and goals of the shoot happen prior to the shoot date. There is no pressure to shoot outside of your comfort zone or any reason for there to be pressure. If, on set, the concept is going in a direction that you are not comfortable with, tell me immediately and we will stop. An uncomfortable model does not make for a good photograph, and that is what we are after here, isn't it? These projects are collaborations and I treat them as such.
MUA's
I consider make up artists a critical part of any shoot. Depending on the project, I will either provide one or strongly suggest that you approach one and bribe them to come on set.
Wardrobe
Come prepared. Most of the stuff in my closet won't fit you. Bring a variety of wrinkle free cloths. Retouching wrinkles after the fact is time consuming and expensive!
Model Releases
Non-released shoots are at a higher rate. A release is mandatory on all TF* and commercial shoots.
Studio Rules (Not too many)
- no cell phones during the shoot.
- escorts are mandatory for models under 18 (must be a parent or legal guardian)
- chaperones are fine, as long as they are not going to distract the process. It is a small studio, so please no more than one. No jealous significant others, dramatic stage moms or budding, aspiring photogs with ten thousand questions during the shoot please. (I will try to answer questions after the shoot is over).
-No smoking in the studio. Out side is fine, as long as you let the photog bum one after the shoot.
- Fun is mandatory.
- Music - bring your ipod if you have something you want to listen to!
Communications and Cancellations
Life is what happens when you are planning a shoot. I understand that.
So:
- If you need to reschedule a shoot, call.
- if your car broke down, call.
- If your cat is caught in the washing machine, call.
- If you are too hung over, call! (although in that case, I reserve the right to not reschedule!)
No call/no show, or 11 pm the night before cancellations will get put in the flake category and will not get a second chance to waste everyone's time.
