William Shubin, a native of Los Angeles county, resides in Downey, California, a small illustrious suburb struggling to keep the fifty years of history alive despite the constantly changing landscape. While swimming upwards through the treacherous current that is high school, William found a mentor in the field of photographic arts who encouraged his creative ability to compose photographs naturally and hone his attention to detail. It was decided that his first medium should be the raw, organic, disillusioning use of black and white film. Not long after the initial endeavors, he began receiving many prestigious awards fueling the fire to excel. From there, music, friends, and introspection became inspiration for new work. Continuously evolving, William, reinvents himself in an ever-changing society of technology, culture, and expectations. His refined but accessible style has led him to create pieces of work that emphasize current culture and the problems which so many face in the present day.

Progressively broadening his mind with the different methodologies abounding, Shubin, has chosen urban landscapes as his key focus. Specifically his attention rests on the natural, subtle tones of his surroundings and the surprising rich definition of what might seem an everyday scene. Through the exploration of land, he composes strong pieces commenting on the average perspective of the day to day. William feels his biggest inspiration to date is not the superficial or artificial. but the similar elements which truly define life. William strives to be as in touch with the seemingly mundane as he can so as to transform perceptions while creating an enduring message which may resonate now and for generations to come. William uses photography as his primary mode of communication in the hopes of it becoming his strongest. Through his lens and what he sees through his own eyes, he puts forth his own thoughts and aspirations for display.
