Multimedia Artist, Zony Maya, (Mexico City, 1978), is interested in the sensations perceived through the body and mind, and how this allows us to see after said process is completed. In love with light and phenomenology he is fascinated by invisibilities and the possibility of feeling the immaterial. As a Fulbright scholar he did his MFA in Photography, Video and Related Media in the School of Visual Arts NYC, 2010-2012, a Bachelor’s degree in Communication at Iberoamerican University, 1998-2002, and he also studied photography at Academy of Visual Arts and at the Active School of Photography in Mexico City; Zony shares his knowledge teaching workshops and lectures in,The United States, Mexico and Asia.
He was delegate for the international cultural festival “Caribbean fire” at Santiago de Cuba, the Cultural Leader in the “Latin American Jewish community leaders training seminar, Hanoar Hatzioni” Cusco, Peru , and the official photographer for the Jewish Dance Aviv Festival at Mexico.
His solo shows have been “Walkers” and “Post data” and among some group shows have been “Cutting splicing bodies: Movements in perception” Visual Arts gallery, NYC, 2012. , “Stillspoting” Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, NYC 2011. , The VI Art Biennial, La Paz, Bolivia, 2009, and the XIII Photography Biennial, Mexico City 2009.
He is also interested in fashion, portrait and architecture, for he has been published in Vouge, Travel & Leisure, The New York Times, Glamour, Maxim, and had been working for brands like Nestlé, GM, Danone, Sony, Kellog’s and more.
