you will get a taste of the fresh contents that make, Lamel Tolbert. Lamel stepped
away from the music scene in 2010 when the mother of his 3-year old daughter,
succumbed to cancer. His experience has fueled him to create more music and begin
his solo career. Lamel is embarking on his journey and showcasing his vocal and
lyrical qualities with his singles, “Drop your Guard” and “Right Here, Right Now”

Born and raised on Chicago’s south side, Lamel Antwone Tolbert took a liking to
performing at an early age. He fell in love with singing while at church every Sunday,
singing in the church choir. It was then, that he discovered he was blessed with a
powerful voice.

Before entering high school, his parents moved their family to Rockford, IL, where
he joined forces with his friend, Michael Campbell and formed rap duo TradeMark,
in 2005. Together, they recorded several tracks, and performed at various venues.
Lamel is known as a triple threat, as he has a keen ability to perform, act and model.
A natural talent, Lamel has been seen in print ads, commercials and infomercials. He
has represented various companies such as Kraft, Digiorno’s and Woodfield Mall.

As a singer and a hip-hop artist, Lamel has many different musical influences such
as Sam Cook, Al Green, Teddy Pendergrass, Brian McKnight, Gerald Levert, Will
Smith, Prince, LL Cool J, CommonSense, De La Soul, and Nas just to name a few. He
has the ability to express the words that he wants to say with such emotion, energy
and conviction that as a listener, you have no choice but to feel him. Lamel’s passion
for creating authentic music has left him with a musical gift, which will last for
generations to come.
