Hi. My name is Lyndsay Curtis and I own Lyndsay Curtis Photography LLC. It’s nice to meet you!

In January, I decided 2012 was going to be the year that I organize and register Lyndsay Curtis Photography as an official business in the commonwealth of Virginia. After navigating the legal side of things, I starting thinking of the best way to show off my work and the answer I came to was blogging my sessions. Here I am, eight months into my first year with my first official blog post.

Now that formalities are out of the way, I’d like to start with the young history of my business.

During my time in school, I attended a basic photography course and built the base of a hobby that I really enjoyed. After graduating, I traveled to Naples, Italy where I met my future husband, Tony Curtis. Tony had also taken classes in photography and was in the Navy as a Mass Communication Specialist. Basically he takes amazing photos and video of jets, aircraft carriers and other Navy things.

When I first met Tony, he told me he was a photographer and handed me a homemade “business card” then told me he didn’t even have a camera. A few weeks later he got his new camera in the mail and started giving me some lessons in photography. As we dated and eventually got married, our romance grew, as did our mutual interest in photography.

After a couple of moves and business name changes, here we are in Norfolk, Virginia as Lyndsay Curtis Photography.

Currently, we’re looking to expand our portfolio with a variety of sessions. Some of our favorite things to shoot are high school seniors, engagement sessions and military homecomings. Our long-term goal for the business is to move into the wedding industry, while still maintaining our footing with the fun senior sessions and always supporting our military with homecoming photos. Eventually we'd also like to be at the point where we're taking on enough customers each year to fully live off of our photography and can retire from our day jobs. But in the mean time, we thoroughly enjoy the place we are at in our lives and business venture and will continue loving what our careers provide us.
