Photobiography: Our Philosophy Anyone can tell a story. Pick a location. Place your characters within the setting. Then, simply relate the actions that take place. These are the stories we tell each other every single day. A Storyteller by trade, though, is wholly different.... They have a heightened sense of awareness, an acute attention to detail, an ability to translate the personal emotions of an intimate encounter into a universal experience that could touch a stranger’s heart. At Ker-Fox Photography, we approach each session as a Storyteller would. We spend the necessary time getting to know who we will be photographing, their shared history, their hopes for the future, the little quirks that make their love unique. We then scout locations that are not only aesthetically beautiful, but can also serve as a mirror that reflects our characters’ passion. A newly wed couple embracing each other in front of an antique gas station at night becomes the story of a young love eager to stand the test of time. A tiny infant laid upon an open bible becomes a reminder that nothing is impossible if we just hold tight to our faith, be it small as a mustard seed. Feel free to explore our portfolio and read our blogs. That's the best way to understand the artistic approach we take to telling your story. Sure, there is an element of "posing" in our photography, but all the preparation, all the anticipation, all the technical prowess and narrative devices cannot, and will never, obscure the wonderful and erratic overflow of spontaneous human emotion that occurs when two people who love each kiss; when a mother and father cuddle their newborn child; when a family reunites to celebrate their kinship. You simply can't "pose" emotion. So, how many words would a picture be worth that could capture the fleeting light of these lasting memories? Some stories require page after page to finally resolve. The stories we tell take but the flicker of a camera’s shutter, and never truly end. What's your story? ♥
