To me, photography isn’t art. It is a science. That isn’t to say it isn’t imaginative, just that it is more about capturing the essence of that which already exists, than creation itself. To me, photography is the thrill of planning and obtaining that shot which pops; that has a certain je ne se qua. In that way, I don’t like mediocrity.

I fell in love with photography at school. We were loaned big, tactile, metal-bodied, canon film cameras, the mechanical parts and quality construction the likes of which is not common in these plastic times. I was granted freedom to spend class time wondering the school grounds, getting up to mischief under the guise of art. Then there was the darkroom, where the mysteries of film unravelled into pools of magical solution. I can still see the sultry sideways glances of one classmate as she took shallow breaths and brushed slowly by me with her nubile body illuminated in the cherry haze. The process gave a sense of wonder and possibility that was followed by eventual disappointment in coming away with at best, average prints.

This unfinished business with photography has been an undying flame inside me and I still think of that darkroom on good photography days and bad.

I'm looking for models for outdoor shoots, ideas/creativity is encouraged (I'll bring my ideas too). The only thing I expect from a model is honesty, effort and to occasionally laugh at my (bad) jokes.
