Born in Myrtle Beach, SC, Heath Hardee has always been a perfectionist and technician of pure artistic expression. All roads pushed him towards the world of creativity as he obtained a BFA in Painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design. As a professional fine arts painter, Hardee has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions across the eastern United States, and has sold his works of art to many collectors and admirers across North America.
Hardee believes, just as the masters of old, that nature truly is the best teacher. With this core concept, Hardee went out among the vast variables of nature producing and recording all of natures glory. He concentrated on the foundations of painting through still-life, figurative, and landscape painting. With this, he learned to manipulate both the subtleties and extremes of color and temperature. More than focusing on the basic lights and darks of a scene, he began producing an overall color harmony that has the potential to provoke even an emotional response if balanced in the delicate correct ratio.
Most of Hardee's landscapes are pure representations of his time and experience within the very scene depicted, yet he has ventured to dig further with some of his primal paintings that strip away nearly everything previously learned leaving a near monochromatic, ominous, but bold statement of complex simplicity. The works seem to take on a life of their own. Each of which speak to the viewer in a different, emotional, intimate way. His versatility to produce both mood evocative and topographically correct works is his strength. He doesn't believe in the restraints and limitations in having one specific artistic style.
Heath Hardee currently resides in Little River, SC and produces commissioned works of art from his home studio. He is also working towards doing professional special effects makeup for television and films in the near future.
