About Me

I’m Guy Auclair, a French Canadian hair stylist with over 20 years of experience. I’ve worked with Goldwell hair care for over 15 years. I’m a stylist who had natural talent from my first day. Talent is not the key of success, as much as hard work and dedication is. At the beginning of my carreer, I had the chance to be coached by a stylist who was trained in Paris. He taught me the importance of technical precision, and helped me to start with a high expectation of my work. I was a young passionate stylist, with a large desire to learn, running everywhere in Quebec and Montreal to take classes and to see every hair show. I never missed an opportunity to learn and my curiosity has always been a big part of me.
Life experience has made me confident. I know I can do any thing to be successful. My hands are magic and I’m close to my heart. I have a human connection for people and I’m sensitive to others. I can read people and make them comfortable. I’m a natural educator because I make students feel good and talented. One of my missions is to help stylists to cross over their limitations and reach their next level. I understand human nature and how fragile people are. Sometimes we all feel small and unimportant. This is not the truth. And I can help you to realize this.

15 years ago, with my curiosity and hunger to learn, I was invited to join Jacques Aubert for a trip to London to take classes at Vidal Sassoon, Tony and Guy. That trip changed my career. I realized how much work I would have to do to reach their level of work. The experience humbled me. I still had a lot to learn… and I always will. I made this trip every year for the next 14 years to the Sassoon academy, giving me perspective and inspiration. Last year, I decided to take the Master stylist class at Sassoon in London. This was an amazing experience and again taught me that perfection is never there….

I’ve participated at many live hair contests in Montreal, coached by Daniel Benoit. I‘ve taught many classes for Goldwell in Quebec like the ABA on a large platform with stylists like Cam Patty, John Simpson, Timothy Switzer … and many smaller hair shows and salon classes.

2 years ago I started participating in NAHA. It’s amazing to see how this contest changed me and has propelled my creativity. It pushes me further and helps me to take confidence in myself.

With that dedication, I became a NAHA finalist in 2013 with my Men’s collection. This was an amazing experience. Also I participated in the annual Color Challenge for Goldwell this year where I placed as a semi–finalist in partner category.

Frequently I have new clients come to the salon because they asked one of my other clients where they got such a nice hair color and cut. I have a good sense of volume to create the haircut and color, and I know what style works with each client’s bone structure. This knowledge coupled with precise “Parting” , I feel, are the most important keys to maximizing the final result. I cut the hair only with my regular shears and always create the final result with my brush and my blow dryer.
I have a shiny personality and I’m very dynamic. I love to teach haircut from the bone structure, color placement, color formulation and playing with Elumen.
