Happy 2015! I've updated my profile, so even if you've been here before please do give it a quick once-over.
On Formal Introductions
I've set up this page to highlight the photography work I do outside of my regular (paying) jobs. To wit, most of the work you will see here represents my more personal taste and what I like to shoot when I'm not getting paid. If I were to place any label on myself it would be "alternate photographer". Tattooed? Pierced? Modded? Implanted? Bring it on. Fit into the so called "alt" category and want to shoot? Pop a message at me.
On Goals for the Year
Last year I worked to become highly proficient in mixing artificial and natural light. I did fairly well in meeting that goal (but the journey continues). This year I aim to explore more creative/dark/artistic concepts. Think gothic/dark beauty, confrontational art, and all the things that are ever so slightly twisted. If you want to participate in one of my projects or have an idea of your own that you want to bring to life then please reach out! I will also, of course, be shooting lots and LOTS of tattooed models (hopefully).
A Proposition of Value
I am not going to get into the economics of shooting here (lots of photographers and models have opinions on who pays who, like there is any absolute in life apart from death). As I said before, this page represents my 'hobby' work. Not to be confused or construed as *crap* work because on the contrary, I take my photography VERY seriously. I almost always have a stylist on hand and strive to shoot in interesting locations. I've been published twice and aim for at least 10 more this year. If you are a model and interested in working together please do understand that my time is very limited - this means that I highly appreciate a professional attitude and commitment to the shoot schedule. If you are the type to be consistently late or the type juggling multiple priorities then we will most definitely not work well together. As far as compensation goes, the bulk of my work is trade, with very rare exceptions.
NOTE: Please do not contact me asking me to pay you, unless you are a traveling alt model or traveling model I have worked with in the past. This is to save my time and yours.
Some notes on TF:
Trade means different things to different people - but here's what it means to me:
At its most basic I will trade 5 - 10 professionally edited pictures per typical shooting session (~3 hours). This breaks down to about 2-3 shots per look (stylists take note).
I am also open to the TFC's (trade for content, trade for concept).
Trade For Concept: In this arrangement I will shoot one or more concepts of yours, in exchange for shooting an equivalent number of concepts of mine. Sometimes our concepts will line up and there will be rejoicement in all the land.
Trade For Content: Got a website? Or other content-driven venture? Then this option might be good for you. Similarly to trade-for-concept I will shoot one or more concepts of yours and we will shoot a corresponding number of mine. Unlike trade-for-concept the copyright and ownership of all photos for your concepts will belong to you.
NOTE: Aside from trade-for-content arrangements I never release RAW files. This is non-negotiable.
Pretty simple - no release, no shoot. This is for both our protection.
I am conflicted on this. I believe highly in model safety and comfort, especially in the freelance world in which I play. However I have too little time to waste on mom-agers and boyfriend-cum-wanna-be-directors. So I will say this, if you feel you need an escort please let me know beforehand and we can discuss. If you show up with an unannounced escort at the shoot then I will cancel it on the spot.
And The Final Words
If you made it this far you are one of "The Awesome", and we will probably get along famously! Despite whatever I might have tried to emphasize in my profile I am pretty fun to shoot with (at least thats what people say!). I firmly believe that life is too short for boring shoots so you don't have to worry about 3+ hours of "silent shooting" with me.
I fully invite and encourage people to check my references (which I am in the process of listing out fully). And to end, I have many projects lined up, so contact me if you're interested in collaborating, or if you have any cool alternative/art you want to work on!
Stay blessed, stay creative!
