Austin Sheppard is a sculptor, technician, and part-time mad scientist. From an early age he was inspired by the textures and colors found on his family’s 275 year-old farm, and those visuals have found a new home in his art. “I think that came out in my art as a means of comfort. I was dealing with some far-out subject matter at one time, and I needed something familiar to balance it out”, he writes. His natural child’s curiosity has grown and evolved into a relentless quest for self-awareness and intellectual fulfillment.
Austin’s work has been shown in numerous exhibitions across the U.S and abroad. He has undertaken residencies in New York, Finland, Latvia, Scotland, and Costa Rica. “My favorite thing about being an artist is the lifestyle. Art has taken me places that as a kid I could only dream of.”
