I have been a professional artist/photographer for over 55 years. I grew up in a small town in the Midwest, and moved to Los Angeles in 1978 where I have had numerous group and one-man shows displaying my paintings, drawings, photos, and mixed media creations over the years. For the last ten years I have been using my photographs to create icons by incorporating gold and silver leaf into some of the compositions. I am very pleased when the right elements come together to create a unique and satisfying work of art. I have been photographing male and female models as well as landscapes, and things I find interesting and attractive enough to consider worthy of worship [such as classic cars, flowers, or animals]. I will always continue to paint and draw- also using my photographs as references, but as I get older [I am now 72 years old] I am more and more aware of the briefness of everything. I am trying to build up a large collection of images which I can take with me back to my new Studio in Kansas where I will continue to work, and open a new ELLIS ART STUDIOS for creating, and teaching the people in my local area about art and art history. I am currently working on a new project that will incorporate more facets of my artistic interests, including landscaping. I am creating a vast garden on my property, and photographing the process over time.
