Hello! My name is Emily Buikema and I'm a freelance graphic design and retouch artist based out of Chicago, Illinois. I've always been fascinated by art and design and originally fell in love with creating movie posters, album and book covers, and conceptual digital art pieces. Eventually I wanted to learn how to do even more and expanded my interest in print design to magazine covers, advertisements, and other promotional material, but it was the magazine covers that sparked my interest in photo retouching.

I only discovered an interest in retouching back in August of 2013, but since then I've invested hundreds of hours in researching, practicing, and researching some more. Like most artists on here, I'm never quite satisfied with what I already know and that's one of the main reasons I joined Model Mayhem. That, and I'm always looking for more opportunities to network with people from all different (but ultimately related) industries.

Editorial images are among my favorites to work on, but I love finding different, unique photos to retouch regardless of style.
