Born and raised in Oakland, California, Joycelyn is never pessimistic towards what is “different” in the world. Through honing makeup skills and artistic abilities, Joycelyn has paved a path out of adversity. She is a strong believer in a hard work ethic, and self-educates by constantly watching inspirational speakers and makeup tutorials. The desire to propel with cosmetology came at an early age for Joycelyn, for it was her cousin, a cosmetologist, who introduced her to makeup when Joycelyn was just a middle school student. In her spare time, she likes to sit in front of her vanity and practice her artistry. Makeup enables her the privilege of beautifying someone, and being able to inspire and uplift others is perhaps the biggest gift of all.
