Johnny Plush is a Pop artist and photographer working mostly in the “Pin-up” genre. He was born in London England in 1970. He calls himself a pop feminist artist and champion of heroines who is committed to redefining societal stereotypes of feminine sexuality. His work consists of photomontages and multi media works echoing advertising looks from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s and his subjects are generally scantily clad sex symbols. Plush refers to his models as “Plush Rockets, powerful yet sensuous figures”. Many of his works feature celebrities and women whose physical characteristics are exaggerated to the point of becoming sexy iconic cartoons in the spirit of Betty Boop or Jessica Rabbit.
