As a former Costume designer, Sonya always had a passion for design, fashion and art. This is where she developed a love and appreciation for hair and makeup. Thereafter, she attended Joe Blasco Professional makeup institute in Hollywood, where she was certified in beauty and special FX makeup. As our head makeup artist with over 13 years’ experience, she enjoys taking part in collaborating mixed media arts such as film, television, photography, runway fashion, bridal and special event makeup. As a stylist at Haim salon she has attended educational classes in advanced cutting techniques in Foundations; a British cutting system, Via; a French cutting system, Men’s barbering, Razor Trends, Creative cutting and Master Styling. Her training in color is just as extensive with education from Wella, Enjoy, L’Oreal, Redken, Schwarzkopf, Eufora, Davines and Balayage; a French highlighting technique. Sonya has worked at all three of our locations and now resides at The Del Mar Plaza and The Park Hyatt Aviara. As a Stylist, and Makeup Artist she continues to pursue her passion and education in the beauty industry to always stay atop of the latest trends.
