About Me

Josh Jacobs (formerly Known as J.KIDD) is an East New York hip hop artist wholeheartedly committed to his music since the young age of 9. From writing lyrics to producing tracks and performing at shows, Josh’s dedication and raw talents have been the drive behind his mixtapes and all music projects.

Born in Brooklyn to puerto rican parents, Josh Jacobs was exposed to the 90's strong hip-hop culture dominated by the likes of Kriss Kross, House of Pain, Rakim, Biggie Smalls, Tupac Shakur, Nas and Jay Z. Living in a home full of music lovers introduced this young boy to what would become his love and lifelong passion. Influenced by Eminem, who Josh Jacobs considers a “musical genius”, he began writing lyrics at 9 years old and hasn’t stopped ever since.

Behind the Music

Although at 11 years old Josh Jacobs was into sports, he soon traded basketball games for studio time. At the age of 14 his father introduced him to the legendary DJ PF Cuttin, Felix Rovira, who would then work closely with Josh to host 2 of his mixtapes: The New Kidd on the Block Vol. 1 & 2.  DJ PF Cuttin would also introduce him to other artists like Masta Killa (former Wu Tang member), Lil Dap (Former Group home member), Labba (Former Violator Member), Respect the god and Afu Rah (former Perverted Monks Members) Blahzay Blahzay, Sean Price and more.

With new connections and three music projects under his belt, Josh Jacobs got the confidence and experience to venture out on his own to network and work with several other music professionals including Domingo Beats, Slaughterhouse member Joell Ortiz, while also getting his music played on Sirius Satellite Radio on both Hip Hop Nation and Shade 45, connecting with DJs by the likes of DJ Steel and the legendary Tony Toca DJ Tony Touch. With almost 10 years of musical experience, Josh is eager to work with other underground artists on the come up, but is ready to take his artistry to the next level.

Life & Rhymes

Josh Jacobs is a lyrical and versatile artist who seeks perfection in every detail of his work. He reflects on his own life to find inspiration for his songs, often rapping about personal challenges and tribulations. As an artist it is very important to Josh that he makes a connection with his fans, which is why his music can be described as emotional, raw and relatable. As an evolving rapper and lyricist he understands that a song is much more than a punch line and gimmick, so he strives to always put out concepts and productions of high intellectual standards.

Josh Jacobs is in love with music—every aspect of it.  He feels most alive when he’s on stage delivering rhymes and connecting with his fans. His career goal is to be recognized and loved for his music and talents. In 5 years Josh hopes to be an accomplished rapper. Whether he is independent or backed by a label, his ambitions includes touring the city, the country and eventually the world. This young Puerto Rican artist is on a mission to share his talents with anyone who is willing to listen.
