***Having to take a small break until the end of the year due to a family member's passing and a little health issue on my end, BUT I will be back shooting in 2010 and I've got a ton of ideas and want to start the year off with a bang, so keep checking back in!***
So here we go, branching out my photography into one of my favorite art and story styles: The damsel in distress. GASP! "Is he talking about some kind of bondage photos?" Yes I am, Sara Jane, but before you click away with visions of some kinky leather and whip club that David Caruso is investigating in the latest episode of 'C.S.I.: Miami', know that is not quite what I'm about. Instead, think of old 30's or 40's film noir detective movies or Penelope Pittstop/Daphne from Scooby Doo cartoon damsel. Dick Tracey comic strips and the old Pulp Fiction novels. Something you could watch on an old Superman T.V. show or a Saturday morning cartoon, like Dudley Do-Right (hence the name "Whiplash Studio). If it's possible to tell some kind of story in my work, then all the better! Now, while a lot of my work does involve the model being tied up, please note that I'm looking for fun shots, things that have a clever, creative or even comical feel to them. That's right, I actual WANT a pic or two where you're laughing and smiling while we're shooting, it's OKAY
This side of my photography is simply meant to be fun and if we're not having then what the hell am I doing this for?
Also, I think it should be noted that I DO NOT shoot nude or explicit photos and I WILL NOT be asking you for them. Let's just get that one out of the way! I know alot of people seem to think a photo of a woman tied up has to involve something to do with S-E-X, but not mine. Sorry folks, I'm a pretty vanilla kinda guy. I mean these are 'Damsel in Distress' photos, not 'Damsel in Undress' photos. Various looks are cool, from fully clothed to costumes to lingerie to even just your skivies, but I've got no need to see you naked, no matter how good looking you may be (no offense intended). There's a whole internet out there for that kind of stuff, I just don't care to be a part of it. So if you're shooting with me, you can keep your clothes on; or at least most of them.
But before we go on, the Great Karnak sense another question in one of these envelopes... let's see, the answer is: "No, I do not mind if you wish to bring an escort". It seems it can be such a touchy subject on this site, so I thought I'd make that clear as well; escorts ARE welcome. In fact, if this is your first time working with someone who is going to be tying you up, I actually think it's a smart thing to do. I can always use the extra help moving things around, getting you to smile and just to relax in general. My number one concern during a shoot is that the model I'm working with is comfortable and having at least a little fun and if bringing a friend along, makes you feel more comfortable, then have your friend tag along (don't feel bad if you didn't get the Great Karnak joke, it's old school Johnny Carson but still one of my favorite late night skits)
While we're at it, TFP/TFCD is A-OK to ask for! In fact, it's pretty much all I'm doing these days. If I'm looking to hire a model for cash, I'll post it in a casting call or contact them directly for their rates. I don't expect you to pay me to take your photo and please don't approach me expecting pay (unless you've just got some ridiculously low rates for some reason, I mean I'm always looking for a good deal, but please don't be hurt if I can't at the time. I try to donate to different things and causes when I can, so the spare money I build up every now and then may be used on food for the poor so some kid can actually say "I'd like some more please" and actually get some or whatever has gotten my attention at that time). So in most cases it's trade city unless I note other wise or you want me to shoot content specifically for you and then sign all rights over to you. Then you can pay me
Otherwise you'll get the best photos from our shoot with my studio name in the corner, but you're free to do as you wish with them. I've even got a dual release form we can sign if you like, but I won't require it. I'm real flexible on all that kind of stuff and don't like for it to be a hassle. Again, fun, I'm here to have fun, not negotiate a contract that buys you out of your arbitration years and 1st few years of free agency... if you got that attempt at baseball humor, then I REALLY want to work with you. Women who love baseball are so cool to me.
So if you think this is a style you've wanted to dip your toe into for some time, but were not entirely certain what the water was going to feel like, I'd like to volunteer my services to help you give this style a try. Or if you're a veteran of the genre and just want to trying something different or gosh darn it, you just like my work, I'm happy to do something with you as well! I'm always open to hearing any ideas you might have and want to try. I'm willing to shoot just about anywhere in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area and love meeting new people. Just know that I talk a lot during a shoot, like to have music playing and will tend to 'pause for a minute or so' during the middle of a shoot while ideas bounce around in my head in an effort to get the hamster in the wheel moving again.
