About Me

I am a Korean-American photographer and videographer, with a penchant for popular Asian aesthetic and that funny-smelling stuff called film.

I was adopted from Korea as a child, and grew up in Washington DC. I found myself intrigued by photography, and spent years of my childhood loving my grandmother's Polaroid SX-70 and my dad's Nikon FM. During my time at UNC Chapel Hill, I landed a job in the studio of a fashion photographer, and became fascinated (or should I say fashionated) with portrait photography. After that photographer moved to Manhattan, I began to focus on creating music videos and promotional shots for local bands and artists - my other true love is music, so I found great reward in being involved in that community.

At around the same time, I started shooting weddings and events on medium format film exclusively; I've found it to be a beautiful and unique-looking way to preserve the memories of the day.

My personal work tends to deal mostly with breaking away from the current trends of super-high-resolution and alien beauty in portraits. I do almost all of my shoots on film, and prefer to either use available light, or deliberate and dramatic flash. I've always seen photography as an intimate and organic process, and I aim to capture and share the flawlessly imperfect human moments that we share.
