My name is Michael Dixon also known by many as Dixon. I grew up and went to school in Jamaica, and eventually came to London on my 9th birthday. I bought my first camera in 2010 and from the moment I photographed a girl in a yellow dress, I was inspired to become a photographer.

The light, composition and colours caught in this image instantly had me hooked, and I was determined to be able to reproduce this magic in capturing other images. I have partaken in academic and professional studies in photography at Kingston Upon Thames, with many hours spent on locations and in the darkroom learning traditional skills. While i adapt to the digital era, I retain the belief that the fundamental rules remain the same.
I enjoy the unique impact that a still photograph can have, capturing a moment in time.

My photography is versatile. I like to construct my concepts as I capture the images. Nevertheless I have a sound knowledge and expertise in post-production editing with Photoshop. I usually try out different colour shades and black and white combinations to see what best complements the photo. The combinations of aperture, exposure and light provide limitless boundaries, but for me all successful photographs must include an element of spontaneous magic too as a photograph allows imagination, which in turn can be transformed into a story.

My passion for photography continues and has taken my work from London to various cities and i have big aspirations for the future. I can’t begin to imagine how many photos I have taken since buying that first camera and my encounter with that girl in a yellow dress, all I do know is that the number grows by the day and with each day that comes I learn a little bit more.
