About Me

WHO I AM:

My interest has long been noncommercial fine art and travel photography. I have pursued images of people and cultures mostly in Asia, but also Europe and Mexico. Success for me has been to capture a unique image of a person in their environment…an image that helps the viewer understand how they live, how they play, or what they struggle with. Recently I find myself shooting more at home and less overseas and using Photoshop to transform an image into something it never was.

Subjects around Sandpoint abound; I have more ideas than I have resources. The missing resource is often a suitable model….

WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR:

Besides abundant natural beauty, Sandpoint has plenty of different, even quirky, subject locations where we can create an image that features both a person and a location. There’s Miss Liberty on the lake; the Humbird pier ruins with all their graffiti; the stone tower on Sand Creek; wall art—both good and bad—all over town, including a block-long alley full of it; even the new Solar Roadways installation in the town square. Any of these can make a good image alone, but with a good model and a good photographer they can be art.
