I have been shooting since the early 1980s. For most of those years it was for me alone and almost always nature and landscape in style. For the last 13 years I have been working in EMS, you know, an ambulance service. I'm an EMT. I've been able to help people when they've needed it most. But, about 5 years ago I decided that I wanted to help people in another way. Instead of helping them only as an EMT, I wanted to help them rebuild their confidence in themselves. As you can imagine, I've seen a lot of abuse in that business. I wanted to see if I could help people after the abuse. Help them to find themselves again and see from a different perspective that they are still beautiful, that no matter what they have been through, that they can still take control of their own life and do what they want in life. To that end, I love to shoot bodyscapes and boudoir because those styles of photography are steeped in the moral perspective that beauty should be hidden, that unless you look like a super model you shouldn't be photographed and that your life should be hidden so that nobody has to see you. The public in general would rather be shielded by forcing you not to show them than choosing not to look themselves. I choose to make them decide that they have to make the decision themselves. I hope that you choose to make them decide too.
I am hoping to connect with others that feel this way and to broaden my portfolio with more and varied themes on these styles.
